Michele Haussmann started Land Use Solutions consulting firm to continue representing clients in the Central and South Texas areas. She has twenty-nine years of experience working in the land use and land development entitlements area of real estate development. After graduating from college, she worked with the City of San Marcos Planning and Development Services Department, and City of Austin Development Review and Inspection Department. Prior to starting Land Use Solutions, Michele served as Director of Planning and Development for several law firms in Austin and San Antonio.
Michele represents clients in the land development entitlement process, including rezoning, city code interpretations, neighborhood plan amendments, vested rights, major thoroughfare plan amendments, and public-private development agreements. She represents clients in the Austin and San Antonio metropolitan areas. She has a working knowledge of local land development regulations as well as municipal comprehensive plans. She specializes in developing strategies and solutions to address complex issues associated with securing approval of entitlements that are part of the municipal land development process. She has worked on all forms of residential, commercial, mixed use, and industrial developments that entailed complex land use, environmental, transportation and drainage issues.
Michele works with the community to build consensus in connection with rezoning requests, neighborhood plan amendments, ordinance amendments, and development agreements. Read Less Bio »Kayla Simon is a Project Coordinator for Land Use Solutions. She represents clients in the Austin and San Antonio metropolitan areas. In addition, she is pursuing a graduate degree from the University of Texas Austin’s Public Affairs program with a focus on land use and local government.
Kayla worked with the City of Austin as a policy advisor in the office of a district councilmember. She managed policies for public health, public safety, transportation, and constituent issues regularly and extended help when needed on land use and development issues. She was the main point of contact for overseeing the development for several urban trails, the new Austin FC Stadium, a multifamily development and the expansion of Project Connect infrastructure in the district. Her most extensive work included reviewing city council meeting agendas, drafting new policy and being a resource for providing accurate, council information to constituents or connecting them to other city staff, departments and resources.
Her federal experience stems from her time spent on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives for her as a legislative intern for a Maryland Congressman. Completed tasks included attending briefings and hearings and writing memos for the legislative assistants and the Congressman. She also was required to drop off confidential documents or new proposed legislation to various committee and political party chambers.
As part of the Land Use Solutions team, Kayla works on behalf of clients as a liaison to provide information on proposed developments and the planning process to local communities and neighborhood groups. Her work specifically includes completing rezoning applications, researching city code ordinances, summarizing site details, and community outreach. Land Use Solutions has established long term relationships with city and county leaders, board members and commissioners, governmental staff, environmental groups, neighborhood associations, and other stakeholders involved with the land development process. Kayla attends Land Use Commission and City Council public hearings and reviews meeting minutes to provide updates on the advancement of the site’s approval or changes to the city’s planning process. This includes coordinating with clients and consultants throughout the process, working with City, County and community leaders, the submission and preparation of applications, and the preparation of presentations.
Kayla’s involvement in the organization provides her with a working knowledge of local land development regulations as well as municipal comprehensive plans. This work requires her to maintain a high-level of communication and integrity with clients to support their efforts on completing site approval process.
Her experience is deeply rooted in public policy from both the federal and local government sectors. Her policy work was strengthened by her undergraduate major of Social Work. Several of the qualities and attitudes she gained through previous professional and volunteer experiences have laid the foundation for to excel in the field of public service.

Read Less Bio »Dylan Coons is the Director of Operations for Land Use solutions. He represents clients in the Austin and San Antonio metropolitan areas. Dylan obtained both his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and his Master’s in Public Administration at St. Mary’s University. After graduation, Dylan worked extensively in administration and operations. Before joining the LUS team, Dylan served as Senior Administrator and Project Manager for law offices across Texas and New Mexico.
As part of the Land Use Solution’s team, Dylan works with stakeholders to manage the daily operations of LUS. More specifically his responsibilities include liaising with the LUS Principal to make decisions for operational activities, set strategic goals, assist in business development, and regularly evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements.
LUS has established long-term relationships with city and county leaders, board members and commissioners, governmental staff, environmental groups, neighborhood associations, and other stakeholders involved with the land development process.
